Customers should be aware that this is the exact same story that appears in the anthology "Falling for Them: A New Adult Reverse Harem Collection".I liked the characters, they all had sufficient back-stories and details, but I really wanted to see more happening. It is very plot-thin to be labeled "Book 1". Even if you take into account that is supposed to be a novella, the content just isn't there for a full story. This seems like the start to what could be a really enjoyable novel, but it is disappointing to see it published on its own. I feel a little duped because I was really excited by the story, and then it just ended before anything really happened. I expect subsequent books will be published to finish the story, but I will not be purchasing them. I don't want to purchase another "book" only to learn that it actually just another installment of chapters.

Raising the Stakes Risking It Book 1 edition by Autumn Reed Julia Clarke Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
I didn’t like this book at all. The storyline was ridiculous, and there was nothing likable about any of the characters, including the protagonist. The grammar and punctuation were terrible, and I found myself mentally editing about every other line.
This is a warm ultimately feel good story. I really enjoyed it. Emma meets the three owners of a night club separately on the same night which begins her dilemma since each one is gorgeous in their own right. What ensues is misunderstanding, remorse, family drama, support, confusion, and ultimately redemption. Emma, Shane, Nicholas and Cole are good together, they just fit and are worth fighting for. I definitely recommend this book and intend to dive into book two. Enjoy! 💜💙💛💚
Holy wow sexy and quick read that was seriously perfect!
I loved seeing Autumn and Julia writing this fantastic story together! They are the perfect pair!
Emma was everything I wanted and never knew I needed. Of course there were times I didn’t like her choices but overall she was an extremely fun read.
The boys were hot and perfect and everything I would except from Vegas boys!
If you are looking for a quick, fun read then one-click Raising the Stakes right now! I promise you won’t be disappointed!
Happy Reading!
It has been a while since I read a contemporary RH and love it. Autumn Reed is one of my favorite authors and every novel just gets better and better. If you are like me and hate to buy books since you have KU like me, then know that this series is so worth it. Well, anything by Reed is worth it. I would pay even more if she could write faster...hint hint hint. If you have never read RH, then you are missing out. I am firmly behind #whychoose in novels. In reality, it would be way too much ego to handle but I love the fantasy. Great book and series. Another win!
Raising the Stakes is such a sweet “Cinderella like story.” Every time I read it, I love it more each time (I believe this the 5th time.) I don’t believe I would ever grow tired of the story. It is sweet and passionate and full of love. I am drawn to Emma’s charismatic character. She’s not timid and independent. It’s refreshing to see a character stand up for herself especially after her experiencing the controlling ex. Girl power.
The swoon worthy guys are beyond the typical best friend but function like a family. It’s very attractive seeing them all work like a unit. Oh to trade places with Emma...
I would highly recommend this story or any other book that Autumn or Julia have written. Their stories are always well written and capable of making you fall in love over and over again.
Emma is a college senior in Las Vegas. Her parents still disapprove of her choice, wishing instead that she would have stayed in state with her high school sweetheart. When Emma goes to a party with her bestfriend, she meets three guys who all seem interested in her. Even weirder, the guys continue to show up in her life, throroughly confusing Emma. When she finds out that they all know each other, she gets suspicious. When the truth comes out, will she be able to trust them ever again? And what will she do about her parents pushing her to get back with her ex?
This is the begining of a reverse harem series. Emma is smart and doesn't fall blindly in love with Shane, Cole, and Nicholas. Even though the guys made me upset, I love all of them together. I can't wait for the next books and to read about her parents and her ex boyfriend's reaction to her dating three guys!
So, if you're looking for a racy four-way story, this isn't it. There is no sex in this novella. If you're looking for a full resolution of the relationship, again, don't expect that. While the book has an ending, so I can't call it a cliffhanger, ultimately it's just the set up for the next book(s) in the series.
Overall, I did like the plot, the writing is decent, and other than finding the heroines reaction to the guys with other women unrealistic when they hadn't discussed exclusivity, the story played out well. Too bad for the authors that they pigeonholed this book into a limited market of people who want to read about a girl dating multiple guys at once but wisely avoiding sex while doing so.
